Multiple touring car champion Chris Hodgetts came back to me after completing his Barlotti restoration saying that he wanted a replica of his son Stefan’s 1997 Gold Kart Firefox building. This was the year Stefan won the JICA class Champions of the Future championship, whilst Lewis Hamilton won the Yamaha class and Paul Di Resta cadets.
Eventually a Firefox chassis was found and the work began. Next Chris told me he had acquired a second rolling chassis to enable me to select the best parts of a ‘mint’ restoration to go on his office wall as decoration and he wanted the second as a good kart to be used at ‘Demo’ event.
